Human Resources Business Partner Coaching

Coaching for HR Business Partners navigating a complex role with clarity, credibility, and intention.
Guided support through real, current challenges focused on strengthening judgment and confidence, without outsourcing decision-making.
What HRBP Coaching Includes
Guided by an Individual Development Plan, this coaching focuses on strengthening how HR Business Partners think, decide, and show up in their role. Sessions are structured and intentional, centered on real, current situations and decisions, without doing the work or making recommendations on behalf of the participant. Responsibility for decisions and outcomes remains with the participant.
Examples of focus areas may include:
- Structured reflection on real work challenges and decision-making patterns
- Building influence, credibility, and trust as an HR Business Partner
- Framing decisions and thinking strategically in conditions of ambiguity
- Determining when to operate tactically versus when to stay at a strategic level
- Maintaining a human-centered approach while holding appropriate professional boundaries
- Strengthening business acumen and connecting HR strategy to business outcomes
- Boundary setting, self-management, and sustaining effectiveness in a demanding role
- Using data thoughtfully to inform decisions without overreliance or avoidance
- Navigating effective working relationships with leaders, employees, and HR colleagues
Focus areas are individualized and refined through the development plan to ensure each coaching session remains focused and high-impact.
How the Model Works
Intake and Fit
An interest form is submitted to begin the process. Based on availability and fit, a discovery call may be scheduled to further assess alignment with the coaching program. Participation is subject to coach availability, and a wait-list may be used when capacity is limited.
Program Structure and Timeline
- Six-month coaching engagement with a rolling start
- Six virtual coaching sessions, each 50 minutes in length
- Sessions are scheduled in advance and designed to allow transition time between meetings
Individual Development Plan
At the start of the engagement, the participant completes an Individual Development Plan. The first coaching session focuses on reviewing the plan and aligning on priorities and focus areas for the duration of the coaching engagement.
The development plan is used to:
- Clarify focus areas
- Bring structure and intention to each session
- Ensure coaching remains relevant to real, current challenges
Between-Session Support
Between scheduled sessions, limited asynchronous support is available:
- One request between sessions
- Response provided within two business days
- Asynchronous support does not include reviewing or evaluating work product, providing feedback that could contradict manager input, or consulting on business initiatives.
- Support may include a written response or a brief call or video discussion of up to 15 minutes, at the coach’s discretion
Manager Involvement (Company-Sponsored Coaching)
When coaching is company-sponsored, manager involvement is required and included as part of the program.
- Up to two manager alignment meetings may be scheduled during the six-month engagement
- An initial manager meeting focuses on understanding expectations and feedback already being shared with the participant
- The coach does not evaluate performance, contribute to performance outcomes, or advise on disciplinary actions.
- Individual coaching sessions remain confidential and are not shared with the manager
- A follow-up meeting may be scheduled later in the engagement to support transition from external coaching to internal support, with the participant present
